Dr Mark Weis – BDSc, GradDipClinDent, MDSc (Melb), MRACDS (Endo)
Founding practice principal, Dr Mark Weis, established Malvern Endodontics in 2006, after moving from a city practice where he worked as a specialist endodontist. Dr Mark Weis obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1996 followed by his GradDipClinDent and MDSc in specialist endodontics from The University of Melbourne in 2003. Mark is involved in both postgraduate and undergraduate teaching at the University of Melbourne & La Trobe University.
Mark is also actively involved in teaching at varying continual professional development programs. Mark has a special interest in contemporary obturation systems, which formed the basis of his Master’s thesis and subsequent publication in the International Endodontic Journal. He is a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists and the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
Mark’s other interests and favoured lecture topics include MTA and endodontic microsurgery. Mark’s hobbies include long distance running & scuba diving. Prior to his endodontic career Mark was a PADI dive instructor in the British West Indies. In his spare time, Mark enjoys running, triathlon events, travelling & reading nerdy science books about Quantum Mechanics.
Dr Daniel Bierenkrant – BDSc, DCD (Melb), MRACDS (Endo)
Dr Daniel Bierenkrant is a highly experienced endodontist with more than 13 years of experience in dentistry. Having obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1998, followed by his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics in 2007 from the University of Melbourne.
Daniel has been working at Malvern Endodontics since 2007. Daniel is an Honorary Fellow at both the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University where he teaches Undergraduate and Post-graduate students.
Daniel is currently the President of the ADAVB Group J branch and Secretary/Treasurer of the Alpha Omega Melbourne Chapter. He is a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists and the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
In his spare time, Daniel enjoys running, dining out and spending time with his wife & three children.
Dr Ilya Belobrov – BDSc (Hons), DCD (Endo) Melb
Dr Ilya Belobrov is a registered specialist endodontist having completed his Bachelor of Dental Science degree with Honours from The University of Melbourne in 2004. Ilya then worked in both private general practice and community oral health clinic, before completing his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry, in Endodontics, at The University of Melbourne in 2011.
Ilya is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists & Australian Society of Endodontics. Ilya has published several scientific papers in both Australian and International dental and Endodontic journals. He is an educator at The University of Melbourne and at La Trobe University as a Clinical Demonstrator and Lecturer, respectively.
An avid traveller, Ilya enjoys cooking when he has time and finding new places that serve delicious food. He’s is also a passionate Manchester United supporter.
Dr Theo Chan – BDSc, DCD (Endo) Melb
Dr Theo Chan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from The University of Melbourne in 2004, after which he then completed the graduate dentist program at the Goulburn Valley Health (GVH) in Shepparton in 2005. Theo returned to Melbourne the following year and worked in private practice from 2006-2012, while at the same time he was involved in teaching dental students at the Melbourne Dental School and GVH.
In 2013, Theo returned to The University of Melbourne for his endodontic specialist training and graduated with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics in 2015.
Theo’s interests outside of endodontics include athletics, painting and illustration. Theo is also an avid tennis player and as a member of the Sports and Social Committee, organises the annual ADAVB Tennis Day.
Alyce – Practice Manager
Alyce joined us as Receptionist in 2009 and was the face of Malvern Endodontics up until December 2013 when she returned to us from Maternity Leave and re-joined as Practice Manager.
Alyce has worked in dentistry since 2006 and has completed her Certicate III in Dental Assisting. Over the years she has worked in general dentistry, assisting dentists and therapists and managed a hygiene department. Prior to Dentistry Alyce studied Disability Studies and completed a Certificate III in Business Administration.
A country girl at heart, Alyce has a very diverse background and a friendly approach. She enjoys dealing with patients and staff and helping in any way possible.
Alyce enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing netball, being outdoors and going on holidays with her hubby and two gorgeous kids.
Amanda – Receptionist
Amanda entered the dental field in 2007 where she initially began working in a general practice. Amanda joined the Malvern Endodontics team in 2008 as a dental assistant and made the move to Receptionist in June 2013.
Amanda is very people focused and always smiling, which makes her perfect for the front desk. Amanda is often the first person you’ll meet from Malvern Endodontics, and she is always happy to help in any way she can, especially with her extensive clinical knowledge.
Amanda enjoys being at home with her husband Craig and dog Monty. In her spare time she loves to go shopping and enjoys travelling the beautiful cities of the world.
Liane – Receptionist
Liane has been a part of the Malvern Endodontics team casually since 2009. Over the years she has embarked on a career in the Television and Events Management industry as well as travelling around the world. Liane, originally from Sydney, has most recently settled in Melbourne and has been with us full time since Mid 2013, as our other face of Malvern Endodontics on Reception.
She has also worked extremely hard to build up our other new venture at Bayside Endodontics (Cheltenham Practice).
Liane enjoys Melbourne’s restaurants, photography and walking at the beach.
Liane loves the new challenge within the dental industry and enjoys speaking with and helping patients with any of their queries.
Georgia – Receptionist
Georgia has been in the dental industry since 2010, earning her Certificate III in Dental Assisting in 2011 while working as a dental assistant at a clinic in Colac. After 5 years Georgia moved to Geelong and worked in dental administration until early 2017.
She is very excited to have joined the Malvern Endodontics team in March 2017 and is thrilled to be able to work with the efficient and fun loving staff and patients that come through the door.
Georgia has recently moved to the Mornington Peninsula where she has very much been enjoying watching the sun set on the water, as opposed to the other side of the bay. In her spare time she is often yelling at the tv screen at her beloved Geelong Cats and when she isn’t home; she is travelling. An avid music lover, in her spare time Georgia likes to attend concerts and theatre.
Brittany – Clinical Manager
Brittany first joined the Malvern Endodontics team in 2010. Brittany began her career in the dental field in 2008 where she gained her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and initially began working in a general practice.
Brittany is a highly motivated dental assistant who has a very keen interest in Infection Control, she always ensures the practice is up to date with the latest protocols and recently worked on gaining our Practice Accreditation. Brittany is a very valued member of our team, and she loves all aspects of working in a dental practice, you will find her either in the surgery assisting or elsewhere like the office, sterilisation room or at the front desk.
Brittany enjoys going to the AFL and supporting the Richmond Tigers, reading, travel and spending time with family and friends.
Cheryle – Senior Nurse
Cheryle commenced dental assisting in 1978 in a General Practice, in Gippsland, Victoria. She then pursued Specialist Endodontics in 2004 and has been with Malvern Endodontics since 2006.
Cheryle is passionate about dentistry and thoroughly enjoys her job, forever learning and meeting amazing people along the way – including patients and staff.
Cheryle enjoys spending time with her three adult children, calligraphy and loves to spend time in her garden at home in Gippsland.
Stephanie – Nurse
Stephanie entered the dental world in 2010, completing her Certificate III in Dental Assisting while at a General Practice. Stephanie then joined us here at Malvern Endodontics in January 2014.
Steph is a very kind hearted and warm dental assistant, who is highly determined and hard working.
In her spare time Steph loves travelling overseas, playing with her dog Marnie and catching up with friends and family.
Stephanie is currently on extended leave, experiencing the life in Canada! We miss her dearly and await her return in June 2017.
Molly – Nurse
Molly started her dental career with us in March 2014 where she completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting. Since working at Malvern Endodontics, Molly has gained exceptional knowledge in the specialist field. Molly is a highly motivated, adaptable, and hard working assistant who will strive to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
In her spare time Molly enjoys playing netball, catching up with friends and relaxing at home.
Rebecca – Nurse
Rebecca also started her dental assisting career here with us at Malvern Endodontics in 2015. Coming to us from a completely different field of study Rebecca has most certainly excelled, and has become a very valued member of our team.
Rebecca is a very friendly, efficient and reliable and we feel privileged to have her bubbly and bright personality around the practice.
In her spare time Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves going to the football to support Richmond Tigers, she also enjoys playing netball.
Tessa – Nurse
Tessa has been working in the dental industry since 2009 and first joined us here at Malvern Endodontics in 2012. Tessa then headed off to experience Outback Queensland, managing a busy public dental clinic in Far North Queensland and then moved on to manage a GP clinic in Southwest Queensland. Tessa has recently moved back to Melbourne and has rejoined our team, despite the cooler weather she is enjoying being back in Victoria.
Tessa really enjoys her work and is so passionate about health that as well as working with our busy practice she is also studying a Bachelor of Nursing in her spare time!
Tessa loves to travel far and wide experiencing new places and cultures, she is an avid reader and always has at least one or two books on the go.
We are very lucky to have Tessa back on board, she is very hard working, efficient, friendly and caring to all staff and patients. We wish her well with her studies and can only imagine the amazing Registered Nurse she will become. [/fusion_text][/one_full]
